Hello everyone, I will be in Cincinnati, Ohio this summer with a small $62 Billion soap company with over 300 branded products in 160 countries. I will be in the Health & Wellness Global Business Unit working in the Pharmaceutical Division. I am looking forward to working with over 250 other interns and co-op students this summer. I will keep you guys posted this summer as things progress...

Great idea, Kurt! I'm heading to SC Johson in Racine, WI. I'll be living in Milwaukee, WI. Thus far, I know I'll be working on the Ziploc brand, but that's about it...I'll be sure to snag some samples for the Center. Later, Will Wait

We thought it would be fun to let everyone know where current students are interning for the summer of 2006....so let me be the first.

This summer I will be interning at the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company in Chicago, IL. The venerable Wrigley Company is infamous in Chicago and around the world. As a worldwide marketer of gums and confections, Wrigley is the largest "gum" company in the world.

I, specifically, will be working on one of the domestic brand teams assisting with the daily management of one or more brands. I'm hoping to further develop my analytical and creative skills within the profession of brand management. I guess we'll see how that goes by the end of the internship!

Cheers,

Kurt Kober

GBA/Guidant Hosts Spring Ball at the Overture Center
Brand Students and GBA Social co-presidents Erin Syth and David Nuelle planned the spectacular "Lady Luck" themed evening. Jim Neupert is a CBPM Board Member and our generous sponsor for the evening. Even Bucky Badger couldnt stay away from this great event!! Everyone looked fantastic, and had a very fun evening. Thanks for all of the hard work, David and Erin, and thanks to Jim for making the event possible.

THE BREW CREW

Several Badger MBA's headed to Milwaukee to catch a Brewer baseball game. Unfortunately, our cheering wasn't quite loud enough as the Brewers lost to the Arizona Diamondback's 7-0. Kirsten's voice must have still been in recovery after Gomeroke. But we did get to enjoy a great game in one of the Top 10 Baseball Fields in the country! This should be a definite addition to your "must do list" for the summer. Plus they have the best nacho's you've ever eaten.
Also, fun fact for the day: Did you know that the Brewers baseball mitt logo you grew up with (1978-1993) is actually an "M" and a "B" for Milwaukee Brewers?

Applied Learning Events Keep Center Students Busy, Engaged

One of the best things about the Center for Brand and Product Management is all the great applied learning event we get to attend. Last semester we had events presented by General Mills, ConAgra, P&G, Target, Intuit, Kraft Foods and Kao Brands. This semester we've enjoyed events with Intuit, Rand McNally, Medtronic, and this Thursday we are headed up to Neenah, WI to visit Kimberly-Clark.

At each of these events students get the opportunity to interact with key leaders. The events usually include a Company overview and then some sort of case study. The case studies allow for great discussion and provide students with key insights and "real-world" learnings.
